FA and FB Auxiliary Road Bridges of Bangladesh Dhaka-Ashulia Elevated Expressway Project Successfully Opened to Traffic

On September 2, the opening ceremony of the FA and FB auxiliary road bridges of the Dhaka-Ashulia Elevated Expressway project, hosted by the project owner the Bangladesh Bridge Authority (BBA), under the Bridges Division of the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, was held at the construction site of Section 2 of the project. Officials from the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, including the Minister and the Director General of the BBA, attended the ceremony. A representative of GENERTEC CMC was also present at the event and delivered a speech on behalf of the general contractor.

Located in the Turag River area of Section 2 of the project, the newly opened FA and FB auxiliary road bridges have a total length of 3.71 kilometers and span three rivers, with two lanes in each direction. Accordingly, all vehicles on the original at-grade roads in the area will be diverted onto the auxiliary road bridges. This not only greatly facilitates the passage of local residents and private vehicles along the route, but also enables the closure of the original at-grade roads, thus providing working space for the remaining construction works of the main bridges in Section 2 and facilitating such follow-on works.

The Minister of Road Transport and Bridges delivered a speech at the opening ceremony and spoke highly of the Dhaka-Ashulia Elevated Expressway project and our general-contracting project team. The smooth opening of the FA and FB auxiliary road bridges is an important milestone for the project and a concentrated reflection of the project team’s determination to overcome difficulties and steadily advance the construction. The project team will continue to uphold high-quality and high-standard requirements under the guidance of authorities at all levels, safely and efficiently advance the follow-up construction and contribute to improving Bangladesh’s transportation infrastructure and deepening the friendly cooperation between China and Bangladesh.
