Linguère PV and Energy Storage Power Station Project in Senegal Officially Kicks Off

Recently, the groundbreaking ceremony for 50 MW Solar Photovoltaic Power Plant Coupled with 30 MW/90 MWh Storage System Project in Senegal was held in Ouarkhokh, Linguère, Senegal, officially kicking off the project’s construction phase. The Minister of Energy, Petroleum and Mines of Senegal, Mayor of Ouarkhokh, Chairman of project owner SENELEC, and representatives from all relevant stakeholders attended and addressed the ceremony.

The Linguère PV and energy storage power station in Senegal is a core and major project advancing local green energy transformation under the national Vision 2050 strategy. Once completed, the project will stably meet the clean electricity demands of around 90,000 local households, effectively helping Senegal reduce its reliance on fossil fuels and lower carbon emissions. It will provide crucial support for the country’s energy strategy goal of achieving at least 40% renewable energy by 2030, and holds significant importance in enhancing the local power grid infrastructure, improving energy supply stability, and promoting regional green and low-carbon development.
