PR3 50MW PV Project in Spain

Spain is blessed with abundant solar resources. According to its national plan for energy development, Spain will increase its installed solar power capacity by 3 GW every year by 2030, posing huge potential in the new energy market.

On September 8, 2022, CMC Europe and Hefesto Solar SL, a subsidiary of MET Group, signed an EPC agreement on building the PR3 50MW photovoltaic power station in Spain. The project is the first EPC project Genertec has inked in Spain, marking a new breakthrough the company has made in expanding its presence in the Spanish market.

The PR3 50MW photovoltaic power station is located in Puerto Real city in Cadiz Province, southern Spain. CMC Europe is responsible for the design, procurement, construction, debugging and trial operation of the PV station. After its completion, the PV station is expected to generate 130 million kWh of electricity annually, saving around 44,000 tons of standard coal and reducing 123,000 tons of CO2 emission equivalent every year.

China has witnessed continuous growth of trade with Spain, and emerged as the largest trade partner of Spain outside the European Union. The conclusion of the agreement represented a new move of CMC’s expansion in the European new energy market after it signed multiple power station agreements with Hungary and an agreement on export of new-energy buses to Romania since earlier this year. CMC will continue its business operation and enhance localization in Spain with the signing of the agreement as a starting point.
